Vintage Magestic Panch Arti and Dhoopdani for performing traditional aarti with ghee/oil lamps and dhoop.
The aarti lamp has been handcrafted in mixed metal, it is atleast 50 years old and has seen some restoration and repair. There is a tiny hole in one of the 5 diya hollows. The arti lamp is beautifully crafted and has a Naag and Nandi sitting on the handle. A very rare and beautiful collectors item.
Aarti is a sacred part of any Hindu ritual and the ghee or oil diya is an essential part of the arti.
Aarti can be simple to extravagant, but always involves flame or light. In doing so, the plate or lamp is supposed to acquire the power of the deity. The priest circulates the plate or lamp to all those present. They cup their down-turned hands over the flame and then raise their palms to their forehead – the purificatory blessing, passed from the deva's image to the flame, has now been passed to the devotee.
