Dabu Printing
Dabu printing is an age old fabric printing method that has been passed down from generation to generation in small villages in Rajasthan. The process involves many stages of washing, dyeing and drying. It all starts with washing the base fabric to get rid of any dirt and oils.
A mixture of mud, gum and wheat chaff is created and this mixture is block printed on the fabric. Once dry, the fabric is dyed in natural colours and left to dry again. Once dry, the mud is removed and what lies beneath is a very beautiful and unique pattern.
The mud cracks in certain places and the dye leaks into the mud at some places, the cracks and leaks create a wonderful ombre, hazy effect with no straight lines and a very organic pattern.
The kurta set truly is a labour of love.
NOTE : Each kurta co-ord set has been created with a lot of love, by hand. Hence, they may have some imperfections and colour bleed. We feel these imperfections are testimony of the work that has gone into it and hence make them more beautiful.
WASH & CARE : Dry clean or gentle home wash SEPARATELY. Since natural dye and processes are used, the garment will run colour, however that will not affect the pattern or print of the fabric.
