The Craft Behind the Drama
The Ajrakh
Every motif on this co-ord set — from the precise small dots covering the top to the large, bold teardrop prints on the skirt — is rooted in the Ajrakh block printing tradition, one of India's oldest and most technically demanding crafts, practised for over 4,000 years in the Kutch region of Gujarat and in Sindh. Traditional Ajrakh involves hand-carved wooden blocks, natural dyes and a multi-step resist printing process that creates its characteristic depth of colour and crisp geometric precision.
Here, the craft is reimagined in deep royal purple and midnight black — a colourway that takes Ajrakh firmly out of its traditional indigo-and-red comfort zone and into something altogether more bold and contemporary.
